February 16:
I finished up and posted the blogs from the past three weeks. It was a bit harder to remember some of the things than I thought it would be, so I’m actively trying to do better so I don’t do a mass post again and can keep track of what I’m doing.
Funny enough, I’m typing this particular entry up on the 18th because I failed to do it earlier. *facepalm*
I did start downloading my Amazon Kindle titles, since they are removing that option after the 26th. I have over 450 books to download so I’ll have to download a decent quantity each day..
February 17:
Scrambled eggs and toast
Lemon sandwich cookies
Two grilled cheese sandwiches
A slice of bread with margarine
Hamburger Helper Four cheese lasagna, peas, and cheesy garlic bread
Mint chocolate chip ice cream
I’m going to try and be more accountable with what I’m eating in the hopes that I can return to habits that I thought I had developed last year. I’m not putting stuff into MyFitnessPal just yet. I need to see and evaluate what I’m eating. I’m back to eating too much sugar again and that’s not good. I absolutely need to change that.
Today was a day off school/work because of President’s Day. By far, not my favorite holiday, especially now. I finished two books and started a new one that I am reading in tandem with a student. I’ve decided to modify my reading goal in a small way. I want to finish the books that are sitting in my “Currently reading” shelf online. There are three of them, so hopefully I can get through them in a decent click. In addition to that, I’m focusing on completing at least 12 books from my home so I can gift them to others later in the year. I had a good time doing that last year, though I still have a few books that need to be delivered.
February 18:
Toast with margarine and cinnamon/sugar
Wheat thins
Grape and crunchy peanut and butter sandwich
Chili with cheese, sour cream, and Frito scoops chips
Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream
I feel like I did a bit of a better job accounting for my food today. I didn’t eat as much straight sugar today so that’s a little win. We had a snow day today so there was a lot of sitting around, but I tried to make the best of it by working on my puzzle that has been sitting on the table, neglected. I made a bit of progress, but I seriously had to turn all of the pieces the same way. Looking at them in a jumble just wasn’t working for me. While working on the puzzle I finished the audiobook to which I was listening. A student, who was a library aide previously, requested that we both read two books in tandem. We selected the current break from school (originally a 3 day break for me and a 4 day break for him) to read the first book and our spring break next month will be our window for reading the second book. The book that I finished is House in the Cerulean Sea. It was quite enjoyable and I chuckled more than once while working on the puzzle and listening. Finishing it puts me at 15 books for the year and about 2,500 pages ahead of schedule.
While killing time before bed, I put on a few YouTube videos of people doing fitness things and I played a game on my tablet. After actually paying attention to what I’ve been eating the past few days, I might venture to the gym tomorrow to see if it helps with my attitude, because it sucks right now. I’m pretty grumpy and I’ve been more irritated than usual. I find that a lot of that irritation tends to fall away when I go to the gym. I might even talk to the little one and see if he’d like to go also. He is supposed to begin attending an after school club to run and eventually complete a 5K. His first practice was scheduled for tomorrow, but since we have another snow day tomorrow, I have a good feeling that the practice won’t be happening. LOL! We’ll likely walk over sometime between 1 and 2, since that’s when I like to go to the gym the most. It’s usually pretty empty.
February 19:
Kodiak blueberry protein packed muffin
Scrambled eggs with toast
Lemon sandwich cookies
Chicken enchilada (chicken, refried beans, green peppers, onions, enchilada sauce, salsa, cheese)
Mint chocolate chip ice cream
Today was a pretty lazy day, but I was able to finish one of the books listed as “currently reading” that I actually put down because it was a little too disturbing to finish at the time I was reading it. It wasn’t a long book, but I’m so glad it’s over. Now, I have like 4 books left to finish that have been sitting on that list for a while. I’m currently over 2,000 pages ahead of schedule to hit my page goal for the year.
Tonight, the little one and I made dinner together, ate together at the table, played Uno, then did some yoga together. It was nice to do things with him that he was excited to do. After yoga, he read The Wild Robot to me in my room for about half an hour. He went to his room to read and I invited him to come into my room and read in my chair while I was playing a game on my tablet. Since school/work is starting later tomorrow than usual, I let him stay up later than usual so he could be around. Hopefully, I can be motivated enough to change clothes when I get home and take him to the gym tomorrow. I had plans on doing it today, but it didn’t happen because he took too long to clean up the room he was working on AND it was too damn cold.
February 20:
2 blueberry muffins (one in morning, one for snack after work)
Chili with sour cream, cheese, and Fritos
Chicken enchilada (chicken, refried beans, green peppers, onions, enchilada sauce, salsa, cheese)
Medium size lemon slush
Today was one for the books. We started the day with a two hour delayed start to work/school, which was helpful since my oldest needed to be at work at 9 am so I could drop him off on my way to my job and he didn’t have to use a cab or anything. Once I got to work, I chatted with some coworkers then went to my desk to prepare for my day. To start off my day, the printer I use for Chromebook and charger nametags had an update to the software and I’ll be damned if they didn’t make stupid changes that stressed me out and I struggled to print out a single label. I finally figured it out and got the label on the charger that was leaving the school for a student, but damn it was some bologna. Beyond that I was stressing about finding the list of parent emails for the senior video requests. Thankfully, I saved it to a google sheet, so I didn’t have to re-do as much work as I originally thought. After that I needed to access Adobe and for the life of me it would not work! Come to find out, when I got back my laptop after it was reimaged, I failed to properly download the program. But while I was figuring that out, a similar program decided to freeze multiple times so I talked to the tech director, who came out and saw how stupid my laptop was being. Thankfully, between the two of us it was figured out and I could do what I needed to do in Adobe. But man, was it annoying!
While all of that tomfoolery was going on, I received an email about my little one. He is receiving a character award on Monday and I can attend the ceremony. So, I put in a time off request to go to the ceremony and also read to his class, as it’s the first day of their week-long celebration of reading at school and asked for volunteers to read. He asked me to volunteer, so as far as he knows I took the day off just to read. He has no idea about the award.
After work I picked up both boys, we grabbed slushies at Sonic (thanks Happy Hour), dropped off some paperwork at our insurance agent’s office, and then had a grocery pick up order to grab. By this point I’m pooped! We got home and the boys decided to hang out and play video games together and let me listen to an audiobook.
As I was settling down for the night, my best friend called me. She was feeling a bit down and we had a good conversation and came up with a plan to help her get out of the house a little more during these cold months. We also decided that she should come to my town and participate in the Gayme Night hosted by the local GSA alliance. When she got off the phone she was in a much better mood, which made me feel good.
February 21:
Blueberry muffin
Cheesy chicken and broccoli with rice - Marie Calendar meal
2 Milky Way bars - fun size
1 cup wavy chips
5 lemon sandwich cookies
Order of fried mushrooms
2 Old Fashioneds
Today was a traditional day at work. I am extremely thankful that my computer behaved itself. I sent out the senior photo request email this afternoon and had a day that was so uneventful that I was able to read some of the next to last Gateway title I need to read for this school year!
I received a call from the local library and I won a prize in the yearly adult reading program. After work (and picking up the little one), we stopped by the library so I could collect my prize and ran into my sister. We took her home and then we went home. I spent time in my room, listening to the audiobook of the Gateway title for work and playing a game on my tablet.
I hitched a ride with some friends to the Gayme Night and they said they were okay to pick my best friend up also, so as soon as she got to her hotel in town, we headed over to pick her up. My oldest stayed at home with his brother and the children of our friends so they could all play and have a good time while the adults had a little break. He’s a good kid and I’m thankful he’s willing to do things like that to help out. We had a great time at the Gayme Night and I’m so glad she came to town to participate. We had some appetizers, some drinks, and many laughs. However, on the way to the event, my friend that was giving us a ride saw a lady pass out on the corner at an intersection. Their partner circled the block and both of them went to help the lady and the person she was with. It was beautiful to see such kindness still pouring out of someone who is in a marginalized group, especially during these trying times. I am so extremely thankful to call them a friend.
