February 22:

2 Street tacos with chicken

Huarache with chorizo

Hot chocolate

Mint Chocolate chip ice cream

Today I took my best friend around town for a few hours before she had to leave, but not after we watched the latest Bridget Jones movie. She loves the franchise and had not yet seen the latest movie. She suffered through her cat allergy and watched the movie. Sadly, she wasn’t sure if she was emotional because of the movie or the allergies. LOL! As I had watched the movie during the extended school break, I knew I was going to cry. And boy did I cry! The scene with her dad and her breaks my heart every time I see it. Hell, I just have to think about it and I tear up. I miss my dad so much it’s ridiculous. They say that time heals all wounds, but I think it’s more like time gives us opportunities to continue living and then hits us with waves of missing those we hold near and dear who are no longer with us.

After the movie ended we headed downtown so I could show her the new bookstore, which I love! We wandered around, drank some hot beverages, and I ran into a few friends that I introduced to my best friend. One of such friends is a coworker who was on a mom-daughter date with her little girl. They were looking for more books for her daughter and came across Anne of Green Gables. The daughter had already picked out her first book and her mom was considering a second one, but had already told her that two was the absolute limit. I had found a few books that interested me, but I wasn’t obsessed with any of them. I took the opportunity to snag a copy of Anne of Green Gables (because Anne is a wonderful character and I adore the story as does my coworker/friend) and headed to the counter to pay for my purchase. As I was walking by my friend/coworker’s daughter, I handed her the bag and told her to enjoy reading with her mom. She opened the bag and looked in, with her mom close behind. Her mom started crying, because she did not expect the book. She hugged me and both of them thanked me. How could I deny a little girl the glorious stories of Anne, when she was such an important character in my own life? I’d be a terrible librarian, that’s for sure! Later in the day my friend posted on social media about the event and shared that they already read two chapters together. My heart soared!

My best friend and I exited the book store after I gifted the book to the little girl and we headed to a local restaurant. We enjoyed delicious food and wonderful conversation. I started crying again, because apparently today I am all in my feels. Anyway, we discussed some great topics then headed out to wander around some stores. One of the stores we entered had a lot of old items in it, many of which I remember from my own childhood. Am I really so old that things I played with and used are considered antique? That’s a little depressing. We headed back to my house where we parted ways so she could grab a nap before she was needed by others.

Overall it was a wonderful day and I’m so thankful I was able to spend time with my best friend.

February 23:

Chips

Lemon sandwich cookies

Mint chocolate chip ice cream

Pepperoni pizza

Cheese sticks

Today I worked on the dang peacock puzzle. I think in the hours I “worked” on it, I put like 7 pieces in place. I swear this has to be one of the hardest puzzles I’ve ever done in my life and I’m a little more than irritated at it.

The little one watched TV most of the day so we hung out in the living room together. The oldest was tired from two days of being around a lot of people. It’s so weird how introverts need to be alone to charge their batteries. Oh wait….. LOL!

Food choices weren’t great and I know it. But, on a positive note, I’ve dropped some of the weight I put on when I wasn’t being mindful of how and what I was eating. Hopefully I can continue to lose weight and get myself motivated to go back to the gym soon.

February 24:

Blueberry donut

Bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit

Fried tenderloin sandwich and french fries

Haribo gummy bears

I took the day off work so I can watch the little one receive an award. I also agreed to read to his class, per his request. After putting in time at his school, I stopped by a friend’s work and chatted for a while, then picked up the oldest to have a late lunch. After picking up the little one from his after school dance practice, I went home and made a mint chocolate pie for some co-workers.

February 25:

Banana

Healthy Choice chicken and pasta frozen meal

Mint chocolate pie

Pulled pork nachos with cheese, lettuce, shredded cheese, sour cream

The pie was a big success. Thank goodness! I was going to crush up some Andes mints and sprinkle them on top, but I couldn’t find my bag of frozen mints. Thankfully, I order an excess of Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies every year, so I had a little extra something to sprinkle on top. Work was fine, just a little stressful as it seemed like everything needed my immediate attention for some reason. After work, I picked up the little one and hung out at home for a bit before heading back to his school for a reading and math event. He had a really good time and he even solved the puzzles to break out of the classroom we were “trapped” in. Following the breakout room we hit the book fair and he picked out a couple of books he wanted. Thankfully I had the cash on me from selling the pie yesterday, because I didn’t bring my debit card to the event. I kind of forgot that there was a book fair going on. * face palm *

February 26:

Sausage biscuit

Glazed donut

Arby’s classic roast beef sandwich and mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce

Mint chocolate pie

2 plastic trays of nachos and cheese

Tonight I worked the concession stand for the last boys basketball game of the regular season. We were busy most of the evening, especially since there was a group of students from the upper elementary school that were performing a dance routine between the JV and Varsity games. The little one also participated. Since I was working the concessions stand I had to run out and catch the dance, of which I missed the very beginning. Talk about feeling like a bad mom. But, I was able to squat down in the front of the section that he was in so I could see him. That helped me feel a little better and he could see that I was there.

February 27:

Sausage biscuit

Chili with cheese, sour cream and Frito scoops

2 brownies with powdered sugar

Crab Rangoon and hibachi chicken

This week has been stupid busy. Tonight is the first night I’m able to relax after work. The boys hung out in the living room and watched Sonic 3 while I just stayed in my room and listened to my audiobook.

February 28:

Sausage and egg biscuit

Hibachi chicken leftovers

Tacos (beef, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, tomato, tortilla)

The little one wanted to go to a movie at the lower elementary school, but I convinced him to stay home tonight. We watched Daddy’s Home 2. We had a good, nice, relaxing evening at home. It’s been such a busy week.

March 1:

Puppy chow

Chicken fajita quesadilla meal at local Mexican restaurant

I took the little one to get a haircut today. He was looking a little overdue. LOL! With him participating in Run Club, Acro, and soccer (within the month), I figured it was time to get his hair out of his eyes. After the haircut, we started our shopping expedition for the day. Ahh, the joy of groceries. After shopping at the first store, we had lunch, then headed on to the second grocery store. After finishing up, we headed home and unpacked our haul. Once we put up most of the food, I went to my room to lay in bed and listen to my audiobook while the little one played the PlayStation and watched the movie IF.  Once the oldest got home from playing D&D with his friends, he shared with me how it went and things that he was excited about in regard to the game.

The yummy cookies that were served at the math and reading night. They were actually made by a couple of guys I consider friends that recently started their own cookie business!
