Today was pretty lazy. I read quite a bit, played a board game with the boys, took a trip to a nearby town to have lunch with a friend and let the little one play in the park. We also looked at cat trees for our kitties while in town. After we got back to our town, we headed to another park to meet up with some friends so the kids could play and we could visit about a school related thing and then just chit chat. It’s always so nice to hang out with friends. We headed home after the park then I read more. See, lazy day. LOL!
I’m hoping tomorrow will bring a reason to leave the house with the warmer temperature so I can begin to focus on my health. It’s so hard in the winter months to want to leave the house because the cold is so rough for me. I don’t foresee moving out of this state, but if I ever can (aside from moving to England), I want to go to a state where the cold doesn’t make it hurt to leave my house.
March 10:
Apple
Eggplant parmesan leftovers
Chocolate mousse cake
Lemon sandwich cookies
Sonic cheeseburger
The little one and I had to leave the house early today. He needed to be at school before 7 am to get on a bus for a field trip that he was hand selected to attend. After dropping him off, I had to come back to my house and pick up my lunch that I left in the fridge. Then I went to work. Work was uneventful but busy. I felt good to get a lot done today. After work, I stopped back by the house until it was time to get the little one from his after school activity. It was such a beautiful day that I just walked to pick him up. We made it home and rested for a bit. He had his acrobatics class at 6:30, so we left home around 6:00 to get some dinner beforehand. While he was in class, I took a nice long walk and soaked in the weather. Hopefully, I’ll be able to sleep well tonight with all the walking I did. Heck, I even walked a lot at work today. Fingers crossed it’ll be much of the same tomorrow.
I am on track to finish a book tonight, making it 21 books for the year so far. I feel pretty good about that.
March 11:
(writing this on a day when I don’t remember what I ate)
I finally submitted my formal request to buy back the last 4 months of my student loans that have been in forbearance. My hope is that I can be approved before any damaging effects of the current administration happen that could prevent my PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) waiver from being completed. It would be a huge removal of a burden that I don’t think I would be able to afford with the rising costs of everything.
March 12:
Chinese buffet (pretty much all the food I like aside from sweet and sour chicken)
I don’t remember all the food I ate, as it was an emotional day for me. I came home from work and found the woods area behind my house (on someone else’s property) almost completely destroyed. There were so many creatures living in that space that are now homeless and it breaks my heart. I can now also hear the traffic from one of our main city streets much better since the buffer of trees is gone. The little one and I were so upset we avoided going home for a couple of hours after we left to get dinner. We did end up making it a good time together though. We took time to go up to the local lookout point to watch the sun set and we tossed around a ball for a bit. He giggled a lot and that helped lighten my mood a lot. I also made a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation and will be receiving some trees and bushes to plant. Hopefully they can help deaden the sound and give some animals a nice place to chill.
March 13:
Snickerdoodle cookie
Chinese buffet (mostly sweet and sour chicken with white rice)
Tony’s supreme pizza
I surprised the little one with his best friend today. Well, sort of surprised him. I chatted with his bestie’s mom about the two of them having a sleepover during break and we decided today would be the best day for our schedules. So, after work, I headed home to pick up the little one so he could ride with me to get his bestie.
They played together, including video games, for hours. I swear, when they get together the rest of the world disappears. They are in their own little world and no one else exists. Heck, sometimes food doesn’t exist either. LOL!
I had a teacher work day today, which consisted of a 30 minute staff meeting, a trip to the local Walmart for work supplies, lunch, and an afternoon filled with trying to help figure out a finals schedule in May. It’s hard to believe that we have less than 50 days left in the year, but it also feels like we should be done now. It’s such a double edged sword. I will say that there are some seniors that I will miss a lot once the school year is over, so a part of me wants to drag out the time just a bit longer. Hopefully they will be like some other former students and keep in touch.
Tonight was a refresher course for the relationships class I attended in the fall. It was a very small group of people and the refresher was good. I’m still using some of the techniques that were taught during the class, so that’s very positive!
Oh yeah, I also received an email from the teacher of my youngest child. He’s being honored with an award for showing generosity/compassion as a character trait. Of all the awards he could ever get, I am so happy this is the one! Hell, I wish Dad were here to see him get this award. I think he’d be beyond proud of him.
March 14:
Banana
Alphabet cookies
Cheez-its
Chicken and pasta-roni with peas
In addition to the bestie spending the night last night, today we inherited two more children. Some family friends both had to work today and since I had the day off, I offered to let them stay with us. It was really a win-win situation. The little one had people to entertain him and our friends could go to work worry free. The kids all enjoyed playing together for the majority of the day. There were a few scuffles, but nothing major. His bestie left first and the other friends were scheduled to be picked up about an hour after he left. Well, things changed a little and we all ended up going to the library together! The kids had a good time and I had a great conversation with my friend. The weather was starting to turn icky, so we left the library for our respective homes. There were supposed to be really bad storms, but they blew south of us a little so we were able to sleep with just the sounds of rain and a little thunder, no tornado sirens. Thank goodness!
March 15:
Banana
Frito chili pie
Peanut M&Ms
A&W cod basket with coleslaw and cheese curds
Ice cream cone
The girl’s basketball team has home court advantage for their quarterfinal game, so the teacher association worked the concessions for the game. I volunteered to work an hour and boy was it a busy hour! After helping out, I headed home and started helping the little one with cleaning his room. We took a break and had some dinner at a local fast food joint, then came back and kept plugging along with his room. Hopefully we can finish tomorrow since we’re both pretty pooped after working so hard tonight.
