February 9:

(I am playing catch up after a week that has been a bit exhausting, so I don’t remember anything unique about today.)

February 10:

Tonight I worked the basketball concessions for Key Club to earn some money. It was a pretty quick night and I think the club members that worked did a great job!

February 12:

Today was an AMI day due to the amount of snow we had early this morning. It was only like an inch and a half, but there was more forecasted throughout the day. I’m thankful it wasn’t as bad as the last time we were out of school for a snow event. Not having ice under the snow is quite nice this time.

The work group chat was blowing up with conversation. One item mentioned during our time chatting was a discount on items through the school coffee shop. I placed an order once we got the text saying we’d be back in school and gave explicit directions on how to make a London Fog. I’m pretty excited to try it out and see if I gave the correct directions. We also discussed some misinformation that was provided in regard to contacting parents with students that have poor grades. I spent time figuring out how to run a report and then providing a copy of the data to those in the group chat. I also worked on the Academic Awards program, as the original version was saved in Word when it should have been saved in Publisher. I’m not great with Publisher, so reinventing the wheel to make the program a little more user friendly (and have better formatting).

February 13:

Last day of school with students for the week and before a long weekend! Woo hoo!

I figured out how to print the Publisher program, which was a work by itself since the pages are in a wonky order. I said I wasn’t great with Publisher so I guess this is round 1 of figuring out how to use the program I’ve been avoiding for years. LOL!

February 14:

Staff work day. A few coworkers that are involved in a group chat met to fellowship before our 8 am staff meeting. I am really enjoying and appreciating the connectedness we are developing with one another during these trying times.

I helped my boss run a report so teachers could contact the parents of students with bad grades, so that was empowering. I also overhauled the program I worked on during our AMI day so it was more user friendly for those who need to print it. Thankfully I had the program saved on my desktop because I gave my computer to the tech assistant to reimage it since it was acting really stupid (and has been for a while). When he reimaged it, all of the stuff I had saved in my Downloads folder was lost. I had some fairly important things in there that I need to recreate now. Good thing I had some free time at the end of the day to figure out what I needed to recreate and actually got some of it done. If we have another AMI day, I’ll work on those now long gone reports.

Another Valentine’s Day with no partner, nothing fancy, and a sense of irritation that I’m a little sad about it while also hating the holiday in general. It’s a terrible position to be in sometimes. I mean, I think the holiday is just a way for card, candy, and (now) stuffed animal companies to make a decent influx of cash for no reason. If you love someone you should show them every day, not just buy shit for one day. The extra attention for one day is nice, but why do you need a huge holiday for that? Why not just do something sweet spontaneously? I mean, those gifts are more meaningful anyway. When someone thinks of you for a minute reason, as opposed to being peer pressured to do something by companies, it seems more genuine. But damn, a girl wants flowers sometimes.

February 15:

The little one, my sister, and I went to the store to shop today. Since yesterday was payday, I figured I’d wing it in terms of food, but do the actual weekly shopping on a Saturday. LOL! It was a bit crowded, but not terrible. While the little one and I were in the discounted Valentine’s section, he snuck a chocolate rose into the cart. I didn’t realize it until I went up front to pay for the cart full of stuff. I didn’t have the heart to put it back, but just shook my head while it was being scanned and placed in my bag.  On the way out to the car, I asked him about it and he replied with, “I wanted you to have something nice, Mommy.” It came from a sweet place and I made the ill guided decision to remind him that I’m the one who pays for it so it’s like I bought it for myself. Damn, this government shit is really taking me out of a place I’ve been working hard to be in for years. I need to find a way to disconnect, but still remain informed.

Tonight I worked a trivia event for the sports boosters. It was kind of fun, but also kind of stressful to work behind the scenes, especially when it comes to the grading aspect of the answer sheets.
