February 2:

The little one was invited to a birthday party of one of his best friends. He is going to see the Dogman movie and he is VERY excited. While he’s watching the movie, I’m gonna walk over to a coffee shop and read while sipping some tea. I think that sounds like a lovely afternoon.

February 3:

Tonight the little one has a meeting around 6 and his Acro class starts at 6:30, so I suggested we grab a bite to eat before his meeting. When we pulled up to park at the location the meeting was to take place, he suggested we go for a walk before dinner. I obliged him as sometimes he has great ideas and tonight was one of those nights. We walked from the restaurant across part of the river. While we were headed back to the restaurant, I heard the distant sound of a train on the tracks. I swear, my hearing is crazy sometimes. Anyway, we stayed on the bridge so he could see the train and we watched a train carrying a BUNCH of coal fly through town. The train was so long it took 5 minutes to pass through! He loved every minute of it. We walked back to the restaurant and had dinner. While I was finishing up, his teachers showed up and started the meeting with him. We set a goal for him and then he took off for his Acro class. Overall, it was a good night.

February 4:

(I am playing catch up after a week that has been a bit exhausting and a couple of weeks of not keeping track of what I’m doing, so I don’t remember anything unique about today.)

February 5:

Today was my first self-imposed break from social media. Well, first full day. After logging out last night, I felt that I slept better, though not great.

February 6:

Today my oldest baby turned 19. He’s feeling a bit under the weather so we didn’t do anything big to celebrate. I will say it’s pretty great that he can claim about 18 years of not getting sick on his birthday, especially since it’s a February birthday. LOL!

I checked social media for about 30 minutes today and I have to say this self-imposed break is really helping me find calm in the storm. Thus far, I have not responded to any comments, nor have I gone on rants. I’ve posted about my son’s birthday, reacted to a few posts, and commented on one (I think). But seriously, today was much better at work and I think my sleep has been somewhat better also. Now, to just focus on reading! I have such a big book to read and I’m struggling to focus. It’s not because I don’t like the subject matter or the writing style, I simply cannot focus with the current state in which this country resides.

February 7:

Today after work I am meeting some coworkers for drinks at a local bar and grill. We are all in a group chat together because we have similar feelings about taking care of those who are marginalized and we’re all a little scared about what’s going on in this country.

After meeting for drinks and having a wonderful time visiting about a variety of things, I stopped by my house to pick up my little one so he could have dinner with a friend of his. This friend was the janitor at his school when he was in 1st grade. His friend is also deaf, but that doesn’t stop my little one from loving his friend fiercely. He’s invited this friend to his birthday parties, soccer games, and they get together to eat at McDonald’s once every few months. Heck, they even send each other birthday and Christmas cards. I absolutely love their friendship.

February 8:

This morning I proctored the ACT and even though I thought I left in enough time to be early enough, I somehow walked in shortly after students began entering the testing site and I had students waiting on me to open the room. I swear, I just cannot seem to get the timing down correctly for proctoring. Eventually, they’re gonna stop asking me to show up.

After finishing with the ACT, I made it home and was able to see my little one off. He is spending the day and night with his bestie for that friend’s birthday. They’re both very excited to spend time together. After he left, I was home alone as the oldest borrowed the car to pick up a friend from work then spend time together. While he was gone, I worked on my super annoying puzzle called Displaying Peacock. It’s a beautiful puzzle, but it’s a peacock made out of Tiffany Glass so there are a lot of colors throughout the entire puzzle. While I was working on it, I had Mystic Pizza playing in the background. After the movie was over and I was beyond frustrated at the puzzle, I began to get ready to hang out with my friends for the evening. We met up at a bar and grill local to most of them, and spent time chatting with each other while eating. After finishing dinner we went to the house of one of my friends and played a card game called “Bad People” together. We had such a great time!
