I’m not doing too hot on the fitness and eating journey, to be completely honest. It’s so easy to blame multiple outside factors, but I know that I’m not holding up my end of anything. I’m not going to the gym, I’m not always making the greatest food choices, and I’m doing a lot of sitting. Today I read. I read a lot because the book I’m reading is getting so good and I really want to know what happens. Since it’s a physical copy, I am sitting around, reading. Not exercising, not working on Lego or puzzles, just sitting. But sometimes, that’s what you need in life. To sit around and read.
Oh yeah, I did a weigh in this morning and put on almost two pounds. The opposite of what I said I’d do at the beginning. Ugh.

Back to work today for a full week after 3 weeks off. It’s been really hard to get back into the swing of things and I feel like I’m back to sitting a lot at work, which will lead to me having some back and hip pain if I don’t get it together.

I FINISHED MY BOOK! It got 5 stars. The ending was so good. I still have questions about some of the things that were done in the book, but the author is writing another series that’s set 7 years after this series and I feel like some of my questions will be answered with that series. I’m also working on another book (because you know how I like to double and triple dip when reading) and it’s such a struggle. The main character is not giving me joy, at all. I get that the author is building suspense and the character is getting her memory back slowly, but it’s JUST SO DULL. On a positive side, it’s been great to read before bed because it’s putting me to sleep!

Today was payday! I went to the store and picked up some items that we needed, none of which were really food. I haven’t meal planned for the coming week because I’ve been so involved in reading. That’s not going to help my goal of losing weight. Priorities, Crystal!
For dinner, my sister and I stopped by the local hibachi truck and I brought home some delicious food. Food that I ate like a glutton. Like, I wonder if I even bothered to take a breath while I was eating. It was bad, guys. I usually have the crab rangoon and like ⅓ of the hibachi chicken. Nope, not tonight, I ate it ALL. There were no leftovers.
I also made my first blackberry pie for some coworkers that have started a “Pie Club”. There are three of us, and of those three I’m the one that makes the pie. The other two take turns paying me for pie and picking what we’re gonna have. LOL! It’s a pretty sweet deal, pun intended. Anyway, this is the first time I’ve made a blackberry pie and the outcome was NOT what I wanted. The pie had standing liquid when I pulled it out of the oven. I was beyond irritated. So, I let it sit overnight in the hopes the liquid would thicken up, like it does with the cherry pies I’ve made. We shall see what happens, but I don’t have a good feeling about it.

Another day of being absolutely exhausted, like the bulk of the week. It was nice having 3 weeks off, but going back is murder. I’m sure part of it is due to readjusting my schedule, but the remainder is likely due to my poor food choices and lack of exercise. I’ve been here before, I’ve played this game, and I keep returning to the losing team. I really gotta find a way to keep it up, even during cold weather. I’ve looked at some walking pads, so that way I can still get some steps in and such, but I’m also worried that if I spend the money on that, it’ll just be a waste of money because I don’t use it.
Speaking of bad choices, I decided we’d have Pizza Hut for dinner tonight. I happened to see on their website that they brought back the sandwiches, which I love. So, I ordered a pizza for my oldest, and some cheese sticks for the youngest. While working in my room, my phone began to ring with the number for our local Pizza Hut. I answered only to discover that the website lied to me and this Pizza Hut doesn’t have the sandwiches. I just cancelled the order. The kids had leftovers from the night prior and I had eggs and toast. The universe knew I needed to make a better choice for dinner.
I also finished my puzzle! That’s two puzzles done for the month!

TGIF. I’m so tired I don’t even remember what happened today. I remember that the student that is organizing a chess tournament needed stuff printed and today was absolutely crazy with random tasks to complete. Oh wait, I remember now! I sat a LOT today, as I was updating the book check out system to reflect students and staff that are no longer in the district. I also assigned fees for students that didn’t return books, like they were supposed to do before Christmas break. Over 80 books were not returned before break. It’s extremely frustrating. So, hopefully they’ll see the fees and bring the books back.
Tonight, the little one spent the night with a friend of his, which he was SO excited about! After he left, my oldest son and I went out to the local authentic Mexican restaurant and tried some new food. It was DELICIOUS and not terribly expensive, which is a double win in my book. I look forward to trying more of their food in the future!

Hello Saturday!
I failed to take my weight and measurements today because I had my mind set on picking up the youngest son, getting the oldest son up so he had the car to take the little one to their dad after the chess tournament, and just getting to work in general.
The chess tournament went well. There were some parents that were a LITTLE too intense about watching their kids/grandkids play, but most parents enjoyed the event. Some kids entered having never played chess before! I even heard one young child ask one of the coordinators when the next one will be, which I thought was awesome. The little one did a decent job. I think he won 1 or 2 games, had a stalemate in one game, and lost at least 2 games. I think he said he had 2.5 points at the end of the tournament, but he had fun. He also now knows what he needs to work on if he’d like to be a more competent player. Looks like there may be some chess in my future and I’m not mad about it. It’s a great way for him to exercise his mind and force him to slow down some since he’s always going at 110 mph.
After the tournament, the boys dropped me off at home and took a trip to their dad’s. The little one asked me to stay home because “it’s too hard to say goodbye”. It broke and warmed my heart at the same time. Leaving him at Christmas this past year was super hard, so I totally get where he’s coming from. He may overwhelm me at times, but he also adds a special kind of joy that is noticeably missing when he’s not home. Anyway, while they were gone, I managed to take a nap, which hardly ever happens. I either have to be absolutely exhausted or ill. Guess that 5.5 day work week really took it out of me. I woke up about 30 minutes before the oldest came home. I stayed in bed, so when he did get home, the house was dark and he was a little panicked. As he walked in the door, I stepped out of my room and announced that I took a nap. He was proud of me, because he knows I’m not one to take naps.
I was not motivated to cook, nor have I set any menu up yet, so we had hibachi again. I did much better this time and followed my normal routine of eating my crab rangoon and about ⅓ of my hibachi chicken, which allows me to have leftovers tomorrow for lunch.
